In 1979, Len and Sheila Moore started selling Delicious Subs and Philly Cheese steaks in their Sub King Restaurant on the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey. Their restaurant was a hit with tourists and locals who loved the great food and friendly atmosphere. Len went on to lead a distinguished career in the restaurant industry, yet kept the desire to return to the fun sandwich making days. In 1998, Len and Sheila opened the original Lenny's Sub Shop in Bartlett, Tennessee, to finance their daughter's college education and to satisfy their cravings for authentic subs and Philly Cheese steaks served in a real Philadelphia-style sub shop. Originally, it was planned to be a single store concept. However, based on the tremendous reception they received from guests, it wasn't long before the second, third and fourth locations were in the works. Today, Lenny's Sub Shop continues to expand throughout the United States by offering franchise opportunities and by building company owned stores.
